3 TIPS TO HELP YOU CHOOSE THE RIGHT CELEBRITY FOR YOUR NEXT EVENT

Event Emporium has worked with a wide variety of celebrities and personalities who have been engaged to add star power to an event. Most of these appearances worked amazingly well for our clients but occasionally some have been near disastrous! Before you go charging into booking the latest trending celebrity to make an appearance, MC or speak at your event, you should consider the following:

1. Your Budget

Firstly, and probably most importantly is the cost. Star power doesn’t come cheap. A celebrity ‘day rate’ will vary subject to popularity and demand. Rates can start in the thousands and move into the millions depending on the celebrity and the role they play at the event (i.e. appearance v performance). Will your budget be eaten up with the appearance of a big name celebrity? Do you really want your audience to be excited about a fleeting appearance of a celebrity but the food and beverage service was compromised? Always consider cheaper alternatives and do your research to discover up and coming new talent and less well-known thought leaders as they can create just as much energy and memorable outcomes with the audience.

2. Relevance

It’s easy to focus too much on the high profile of a celebrity without demonstrating the connection between the celebrity and the business / client and the event. So it’s important to choose someone who is relevant to your products and services and in turn, your target market. It is also important to be mindful the celebrity’s “star” doesn’t burn so bright that guest will be leaving with wonderful memories of a performance or presentation but no recollection for the reason they were actually there.

3. Research

Always background check and seek out referrals on potential celebrity candidates – just because a celebrity looks great on in a movie or on TV, or a personality regularly appears on the front cover of magazines, this doesn’t necessarily mean they have the ability to engage with an audience and communicate your message effectively.

The right celebrity can certainly create an event experience guests will long remember and talk about for years to come. – The sort of ROI you can’t buy.
